postpones decision on Lycopene and cancer health
claim petition until February 11, 2005

, California - The FDA will not issue its decision
on the pending American Longevity lycopene/cancer
health claim petition until February 11, 2005.
The FDA was supposed to issue its decision on
December 24, 2004. In recent months the agency
has asked for extensions in its review of seven
other pending qualified health claim petitions
citing a lack of agency resources.
